Creeds

We are unashamedly Christian, and absolutely affirm the classic creeds of the church.  The oldest, the Apostles’ Creed is a beautiful beginning.  Check here for a link to some of the history and various translations.

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

From a theological perspective, we are evangelical – we place a high value on the Bible and trust its teachings, and we believe that the good news we have received is something to be shared.  We’re strongly influenced by what is often called “kingdom theology,” and believe that the Holy Spirit is active and present in our lives, and leads and empowers us to accomplish God’s mission in the world.

We consider ourselves “multi-denominational,” in that we actively seek to embrace other congregations and firmly believe that there is one Church, the body of Christ, and that Jesus desires unity of heart and mission (John 17).  We have strong connections with and affection for the Vineyard movement , and many of us have roots in Methodist/Wesleyan churches as well as Assembly of God, Lutheran and Baptist backgrounds.  We actively seek to partner with other congregations through pilgrimages and shared missional work.
